Former Sunday Island cartoonist, Shantha K. Herath, won an
honourable mention at a recent competition for South Asian cartoonists
organized by the Himal South Asia magazine.
A total of 376 entries from 173 cartoonists from all over
the world was received for this competition on the theme "Dramatic Divide:
The distance between the powerful and the powerless."
The three-member jury comprising Sadanand Menon, Madhuker
Upadhyay and Kunda Dixit chose the winners and, to recognize the high
quality of the works submitted, the editors of Himal also announced an
Editors’ Pick list for special recognition. This cartoon by Herath beloged
to that category.
